Dr. Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, confirmed that a website is being prepared at the highest level to receive citizens ’requests to connect electrical current to informal areas and offspring by installing code meters, stressing that the launch of the website comes to ensure that the citizen does not need to go to the distribution company and prevent crowding out.
Shaker added in exclusive statements to “Elyoum Elsabea”, that the electricity distribution companies will not receive citizens requests to connect the electrical current to the random and irregular areas by installing prepaid Kudi counters only after life returns to normal and cancel the decision of curfew and gatherings in order to preserve the safety of citizens to limit the spread of Corona Virus.
The Council of Ministers had approved the executive rules for installing the code counters, which stipulated that the prepaid code meter be installed for all buildings and installations violating the electrical current unlawfully, while canceling the system of practices and replacing it with the code numbering system.
The executive rules also included that the installation of the code counter should be temporary for the next two months, either by reconciling the legal status of the building, in accordance with the Reconciliation Law and issuing a certificate to that from the competent authority. Accordingly, the code counter is replaced by the legal meter, or the removal decision issued for the violating building is implemented, and accordingly the code counter is raised.
The rules confirmed that the installation of the code counter does not give any legal rights to the violator regarding the building, and it is not permissible to use it to arrange any rights in this matter.
